Denis Hellebuyck

safety
Denis first obtained a bachelor’s degree in electromechanical engineering from Ghent University. He then studied the International Master in Fire Science Engineering at the universities of Ghent, Lund and Edinburgh. Since then, he has developed in-depth knowledge of fire safety in various sectors. For example, he has advised on fire risks in very different projects ranging from wooden high-rise constructions, underground metro lines, high-speed sleeper trains to even Formula 1 cars.
With an uncompromising drive to put risks in a clear framework, Denis enjoys working on innovative and complex assignments with a special fire risk. His passion lies in making a sustainable impact with the help of technological innovation. He stood at the basis of various start-ups such as projects in the fields of renewable energy, drones and wildfire protection. Finally, he is also active as a researcher. For example, he published a scientific article on the fire risks of dielectric fluids in nuclear facilities and was invited as a visiting researcher at the Center of Excellence in Risk and Decision Sciences (CERIDES) in Cyprus.
