Jo Petroni

ecology / participation / process management

After working with her father in their architecture firm, mostly on commercial real estate projects, Jo became disenchanted with the industry. By studying the principles of permaculture, biomimicry and eventually regenerative design, she found her way back to architecture. From small scale projects like bioclimatic homes to bigger sites like ecovillages and regenerative neighborhoods, she has built up extensive experience with integrating ecological system thinking into architectural design and working in harmony with a project site’s natural context.

Jo is dedicated to transforming the real estate sector through sustainable and mindful design. In every project, she challenges the status quo by promoting design that goes beyond just creating ‘less bad buildings’. From a holistic perspective, she aligns experts, technical systems, and ecological processes to create spaces that actively participate in regenerating larger systems. She is also a co-creator of the Carbon Almanac, putting facts about carbon and climate change on the table. Through her work and advocacy, she aims to inspire a shift in consciousness within the built environment industry.
