Kris Peeters

communications / mobility / participation
Kris studied political science and anthropology at the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL) and later studied traffic engineering at the PXL University College in Hasselt. He started his career at the City of Antwerp, where he was a driving force for mobility for more than 25 years. He subsequently helped other local authorities develop visions for the future and give mobility policy a new impetus. He also worked on projects on rural mobility, Living Neighbourhoods (‘Leefbuurten’, Team Vlaams Bouwmeester) and alternatives to the car.
Seasoned in policy processes from various public and private roles, Kris has the necessary empathy for all actors to translate social and political ambitions into practice. With an interdisciplinary perspective, he likes to move at the crossroads of mobility sciences, spatial planning, architecture, ecology, economics, linguistics, philosophy and art. The results of this can be found in his lectures, courses (including PXL University College), publications (e.g. ‘Het voorruitperspectief’), media appearances and engagement in various organizations and advisory bodies.
