Ebru Baykal Uluoz

health / interiors
Ebru completed her education as an architect at Yildiz Technical University and Istanbul Technical University. For more than 20 years, she has designed and executed interior projects in both commercial buildings (mostly workplaces and retail) and residential spaces in various countries. Gradually she specialized herself in occupant health, well-being and the design of healthy user experiences in buildings. Today, she provides spatial and operational strategies for healthy environments at different scales like, for instance, offices, healthcare facilities or university campuses.
Ebru believes that our everyday spaces can have a much bigger and positive impact on our physical, mental and social health. She is a Fitwell Ambassador (healthy building certification) and member of the Academy of Neuroscience and Architecture (ANFA). As a doctoral researcher at Istanbul Technical University, she explores how the built environment affects our health and well-being and how we can create better health (salutogenesis) through evidence-based design. In addition to her academic publications, she regularly gives lectures and presentations on design and health at various universities and architectural events.
