Evelien Vanden Berghe

culture / heritage / participation
Evelien is an art historian and was assistant curator at Musea Brugge for more than 20 years, where she developed the public outreach policy, curated exhibitions and conducted research into historical heritage. Commissioned by various exhibition designers, she also created concepts for the redevelopment and repurposing of historical and in particular religious heritage. For example, she investigated the soul of the place for two monasteries for Tourism Flanders and designed public events tailored to the Sint-Godelieve Abbey in Bruges.
Evelien is committed to placing collections and the power of immovable heritage at the heart of the design for a broad public. In doing so, she pays special attention to initiatives that connect people with objects and places in order to create a unique and unforgettable visitor experience. Since 2024, she has also been director of the Ghent Heritage Centre Sisters of Charity, where she manages an archive, library and collection and supervises educational projects.
